Penalties

The following time penalties or DNF apply for any infraction during a run.

Exceeding Maximum Start Speed

The maximum permitted start speed is 200 kt / 370 km/h. Exceeding this by up to 3 kt (6 km/h): 1-second penalty. Exceeding it by 3 kt (6 km/h) or more: DNF.

Climbing in the Gate

Flight path angle exceeds 10 degrees of climb while passing a gate: 2-second penalty.

Descending in the Gate

Flight path angle exceeds 5 degrees of descent while passing a gate: 2-second penalty.

Course Deviation

Course Deviation

DNF is issued if the aircraft exceeds the lateral Pylon Hit boundary, crosses the Deadline, or fails to pass a gate within 30 seconds of starting a run.

Over G

If the RDU records a load factor exceeding 12G during a run: DNF.

Insufficient Smoke

Insufficient Smoke

Smoke must be continuous from the Start Gate to the Finish Gate. If smoke is absent, or the Race Director determines it to be significantly insufficient: 1-second penalty.
